Lord says, “I will heal their apostasy” (ESV, NASB). Instead of “apostasy,” other translations have “waywardness” (NIV), “backsliding” (KJV), or “disloyalty” (NRSV). The Hebrew word, though, is the same word translated “return” in verses 1 and 2. In verse 4, the word refers to turning away from God instead of turning to him.
